In 1921 Echeverria made these changes to produce the Pistola Modelo Militar 1921. They requested that the safety be relocated to the frame and a grip safety added. It would remain the standard-issue pistol cartridge of the Spanish Army and Guardia Civil until 1946, and pistols chambered for it continued in service well into the 1980s.Īfter using the Modelo Militar 1920 for a short time, the Guardia Civil wanted changes made to the pistol.
